abstract Materials with a micro-roughened, bacteria-repellent surface complying with at least two of the following parameters measured in the x- and y-directions, are new. The ten-point height (Rz) = 10-1000; the arithmetic mean roughness (Ra) = 5-100 nm; and the mean distance apart (D) of topical profile peaks = 30-1000 nm. Also claimed are bacteria-repellent materials have a micro-roughened surface complying with at least two of the parameters from either (a) and (b) below: (a) Rz = 30-700; Ra = 10-80 nm; and D = 50-500 nm; (b) Rz = 80-200; Ra = 10-30 nm; and D = 100- 450 nm.
