titleOfInvention Polyvinyl chloride flooring
abstract A polyvinyl chloride floor covering is provided which has a low smoke development on firing and a lower hydrogen chloride concentration in the flue gas than conventional polyvinyl chloride floor coverings. In addition to polyvinyl chloride and conventional additives, it contains polyvinyl butyral and finely divided magnesium hydroxide. In a preferred embodiment, it contains the ingredients in proportions such that it meets the requirement of IMO Resolution MSC 61 (67) regarding flue gas density and hydrogen chloride concentration in the flue gas.
