The invention relates to nanoparticles comprising a biocompatible, biodegradable polyelectrolyte complex composed of polycations and polyanions and at least one bioactive agent, the nanoparticles being obtainable by treating the polyelectrolyte complex with at least one crosslinking agent after its formation. Furthermore, a process for the production of the above-mentioned nanoparticles is disclosed, wherein an active substance in bound or unbound form, an aqueous solution of an acidic polymeric substance and a basic polymeric substance is brought together and then the polyelectrolyte is formed in nanoparticulate form or, optionally, in a nanoparticulate form Form is converted, characterized in that the nanoparticulate polyelectrolyte complex is then treated with a crosslinking agent. The nanoparticles are used to apply bioactive substances. Their high stability and the controlled release of the active ingredients as well as the avoidance of the burst effect are particularly advantageous. Furthermore, due to the production process, the disclosed nanoparticles have only extremely small residues of organic solvents. |
