The lamp has a ceramics discharge envelope (4) containing a pair of discharge electrodes (8a,8b) and a metal halogenide as the light-emitting material, with a conductor (9a,10), acting as the current lead for one of the electrodes, extending immediately adjacent the outside of the discharge envelope, or in contact with it. The discharge envelope and the adjacent conductor are contained within a transparent or translucent glass envelope (1) which is evacuated or filled with an inert gas. |
