abstract | Hardenable tooth mass comprising (a) 34-68% by weight of uniformly dispersed silane-treated silica wherein a silane-treated silica is uniformly dispersed in urethane (meth) acrylate obtained by treating a colloidal silica having an average primary particle size of 1 to 85 nm with at least one silane compound of the formula (1): Y n SiX 4-x (1) Y is a hydrocarbyl radical or a reactive radical containing a polymerizable vinyl radical; X is a hydrolyzable group; and n is an integer of 1, 2 or 3, and uniformly dispersing the treated silica in urethane (meth) acrylate containing two or more urethane groups and two or more acryloyl groups and / or methacryloyl groups in a molecule such that the translucency of the uniformly dispersed silica (a) as determined by a spectrophotometer at 380.degree. 750 nm, before and after curing is 80% or more; (b) 17-51% by weight of a polymerizable monomer; (c) 15-20% by weight of poly (alkyl (meth) acrylate); and (d) 0.1-3.0% by weight, based on the total weight of (a), (b) and (c), of a polymerization initiator. |
