titleOfInvention Ion detector
abstract The ion detector has a conversion electrode (10) on a second axis essentially perpendicular to and offset wrt. a first or ion incidence axis. A voltage applied to the conversion electrode has opposite polarity to the incident ions so as to emit secondary electrons or positive ions arising from the impact of the incident ions. A detector on the second axis detects the secondary electrodes or positive ions. A screening electrode (20) with an essentially cylindrical body coaxial with the second axis encloses a space between the conversion electrode and the detection unit with an opening for the incident ions in a side face on the input axis.
