abstract |
Rubber polymer (I), comprises (A) a conjugated diene polymer bonded to, (B) the lithium (Li)-free residue of a Li-containing organic polymer (II) used as catalyst in the production of (A) and comprising (a) units derived from conjugated diene monomer(s) (CDM) and (b) units derived from aromatic polyvinyl monomer(s). Polymer (II) has a mol. wt. ratio (Mw/Mn) of 1.2-3.5 and is obtained by reacting an organo-Li compound with a first polymerisable material containing at least one CDM and a second polymerisable material containing at least one vinyl-aromatic compound (AVM), including AVM compound(s) with at least two vinyl groups. Also claimed are (i) a catalyst comprising Li-containing polymer (II), (ii) a process for the production of polymer (I) by polymerisation of CDM in a hydrocarbon solvent in presence of (II) as catalyst, (iii) high-impact styrene polymer resin compositions obtained by polymerisation in bulk, bulk/suspension or solution of (1) rubber polymer (I) and (2) a copolymerisable material containing AVM or a mixture of AVM and suitable comonomer(s). |
