abstract The invention relates to cholesteric oligomers of formula (I) [(Zn<1>-Y<1>-)\(A-Y<2>-)q\(B-Y<3>-)p\Z<2>], wherein n represents a value from 0 to 1 in the agent, q represents a value from 0.1 to 2 in the agent, p represents a value from 1 to 20 in the agent, A represents a chiral group, B represents a mesogene group. Y<1>, Y<2> and Y<3>, independent of one another, represent a group of formula -CO-O-, -O-CO- or -O-CO-O-, whereby the q-units (A-Y<2>-) and the p-units (B-Y<3>-) exist in any sequence, the q-groups A are the same or different and the p-groups B are also the same or different. In addition, Z<1> and Z<2>, independent of one another, represent a group of formula W-Q-, wherein Q represents a chemical bonding or one or multiple substituted alkylene-spacers or arylene-spacers; and W represents a cross-linked heterocyclic group. The invention also relates to a method for producing and utilizing said cholesteric oligomers.
