abstract |
Process for producing a polyclonal antiserum against a human or animal prion protein (PrP) comprises: (a) selecting a polypeptide that has a length of at least 10 amino acids and has an amino acid sequence at least 70% homologous to that of human, bovine or murine PrP in a region of at least 10 consecutive amino acids; (b) binding a metal to the polypeptide by reaction with a metal compound; and (c) injecting the metal-containing polypeptide into a host animal, optionally together with adjuvants, to induce production of a polyclonal antiserum. Also claimed is a polyclonal antiserum produced by a process as above. |
