abstract Triiodophenyl compounds (I) are new. They are prepared e.g. by reaction of the corresponding amine with an acid chloride. Triiodophenyl compounds of formula (I) and their salts with inorganic and/or organic bases, amino acids and amides are new. R1, R2 = H, COOH, CONR3R4 or NR5COR6, provided that both R1 and R2 are not H; R3, R4 = H or 1-6C alkyl which is optionally substituted by 1-5 OH and/or 1-3 1-3C alkoxy groups; R5 = H or 1-6C alkyl which is optionally substituted by 1-5 OH and/or 1-3 1-3C alkoxy and/or 1 or 2 phosphono groups; R6 = H or 1-6C alkyl which is optionally substituted by 1-5 OH and/or 1-3 1-3C alkoxy and/or phosphono groups and which may be interrupted by an O atom; Y = phosphono, (CONH)nR7 or NR5COR6; n = 0 or 1; R7 = 1-6C alkyl which is substituted by at least one phosphono and/or one or more COOH groups, where the phosphono group can be present as the phosphonic acid mono ester; provided that (I) contains at least one phosphono group. An Independent claim is also included for preparation of (I).
