Preparation of carbonyl diisocyanate (I) from trichloroisocyanuric acid (II) comprises heating (II) in a reactor at 225-500 deg C, optionally in the presence of carbon monoxide (CO) and/or whilst irradiating with ultraviolet (UV) light, for a time such that no nitrogen trichloride (NCl3) is present in the discharge from the reactor. |
