abstract The invention relates to bimolecular coated calcium carbonate and to a process for performing a controlled surface treatment of calcium carbonate. According to the invention, an amount of coating determined from the mean particle diameter (dp) of the calcium carbonate is contacted with the calcium carbonate particles. The way of determining the amount of coating allows for a purposeful control of the application technologies of the calcium carbonate as functional filling material.
