titleOfInvention Recombinant DNA molecules and methods for increasing the oil content in plants
abstract The invention relates to means and a method for increasing oil content in plants. Recombinant DNA molecules containing regulatory sequences of an embryo-specific promoter in plants are also described. Said regulatory sequences are also functionally linked to a DNA sequence whose gene product inhibits a protein with the enzymatic activity of an ADP glucose pyrophosporylase (AGPase). The DNA sequence is functionally linked to a regulatory sequence which can be used as a transcription-termination sequence in plants. Vectors and host cells containing the inventive recombinant DNA molecules are also described. The invention further relates to methods for the production of transgenic plant cells, plant tissue and plants using the described recombinant DNA molecules and vectors. Transgenic plant cells, plant tissue and plants, in addition to crop products and reproduction material containing the inventive recombinant DNA molecules or able to be produced by the inventive method and exhibiting a higher oil content are also described.
