abstract |
An effluent treatment process comprises :(a) reacting adsorbent material present as a complex with hazardous material in the effluent ; (b) irradiating the effluent with electron beam radiation to accelerate the reaction in step (a) ; and (c) removing precipitated particles formed in step (b). A process for treating effluent containing chromium (VI) ions is also claimed, in which the hexavalent chromium ions are converted into trivalent ions using electron beam radiation and air, nitrogen or argon is blown into the effluent to form a foam in order to make irradiation more effective. |
