Bimetallic cluster of formula: M<+>Ru3lr(CO)13<-> (I), H Ru3lr(CO)13 (II), M<+>H2Ru3lr(CO)12<-> (III) or H3Ru3lr(CO)12 (IV) (where: M<+>= R3P =N <+>= PR3; with R = aryl, ER'4<+> with E = N, P, As; and R' = H, alkyl, aryl, a cationic heterocyclic nitrogen compound or a simple charged cation selected from alkali(ne earth) metals). Production of the bimetallic cluster is also claimed comprising reacting an iridium compound of formula: M<+>lr(CO)4<-> (V) (where M<+> = as above) with Ru3(CO)12, and optionally further converting the product obtained with an acid and/or reducing agent. |
