| abstract |
A surface treated cast iron pipe has a corrosion protective coating of an aluminium alloy containing 5-25 wt.% Mn in supersaturated solid solution in the aluminium. Preferably, the alloy additionally contains 0-15 wt.% Si and/or Mg, also in supersaturated solid solution. Also claimed is a corrosion protective surface treatment process for a cast iron pipe involving thermal (preferably flame or plasma) spraying of a quenched aluminium alloy as described above. |
