A process for vaporising and solidifying salt-containing solutions, especially borate- or sulphate-containing solutions, is carried out in a closed vessel (12) using heat from microwaves, the salt solution being continuously, or bath-wise fed to a vessel, liquid vaporised and then fed to a condenser vessel. Specifically, the salt-containing solution is heated in a vessel (21) with a covering (26) in which a microwave waveguide (28) opens. The waveguide turns into a horn (29) (sic) or has a cross-section and/or distance changeable to the liquid surface, with the microwaves being reflected directly onto the salt-containing solution. The apparatus for carrying out the process is also claimed. |
