The invention relates to stereospecific polymerization or copolymerization of an olefin of the formula R<a>CH=CHR<b> wherein R<a> and R<b> can be hydrogen, an unbranched- or branched-chain alkyl group of any length or a corresponding alkenyl group or a corresponding alkoxyl group and can be the same or different, in the presence of a catalyst consisting of a metallocene of the general formula (I) wherein M<1> is a metal of the groups 3-10 or the lanthanide series of the periodic table, and an aluminoxane or a salt-like compound of the formula RXNH4-xBR<'>4 or R3PHBR<'>4. |
