abstract The scrap vehicles which contain solid organic and inorganic substances with a mineral content are shredded and separated into various end products. The lighter particles are separated into particle size ranges and further fractions (B to E) produced below a separating cut for a coarse fraction (A) are each supplied to a separating station (20) where the organic contents (J) are separated from a heap (M) of metal and mineral substances. The coarse fractions are pulverised and the iron particles are then removed from the coarse fraction together with the organic contents from the additional fractions (B to E). The separating cut for the coarse fraction is about 12 mm.
