Gene construct (A) that expresses a protein (I) which is activated by an enzyme (II) released from cells comprises at least one each of: (a) promoter element; (b) DNA sequence for active agent (protein (B)); (c) DNA sequence for an amino acid sequence (C) specifically cleaved by (II) released from mammalian cells, and (d) DNA sequence for a peptide or protein (D) which, by binding to (B) via (C), inhibits the activity of (B). Also claimed are plasmids and viral vectors containing (A). |
