The use of fatty acid methyl ester(s) (I) as substitute for kerosene in oil lamps is claimed. (I) are derived from 6-22, especially 8-18 carbon (C) fatty acids, especially (predominantly) saturated fatty acids, more especially caprylic, capric, lauric, myristic and/or palmitic acid.
