titleOfInvention | Method and device for changing the chemical composition of tobacco smoke inhaled by smokers |
abstract | Carcinogenic hydrocarbons in tobacco smoke are greatly reduced by adding to the tobacco pref. 0.1-3 wt. % or to the cigarette filter material of n-paraffins with 11-30, pref. 11-18C atoms, pref. liquid at room temp. and of b.p. 1 mm. Hg at room temp. The paraffin is pref. applied as an aq. emulsion. In an example, addition of 1% n-paraffins to cigarette tobacco reduced benzpyrene prodn. from 20 mu g to 5 mu g per 1000. |
