titleOfInvention | Process for the separation of fatty acid mixtures into components with different melting points |
abstract | In the separation of fatty acids by the wetting-out process, part of the circulating aqs. liquor containing surfactant is withdrawn from the circulation and replaced by fresh liquor containing surfactant and/or electrolyte in order to remove "non-fatty acid" impurities derived from the raw material. The amt. removed depends on the impurity content. With 1-3% non-fatty acid in the raw material, 15-30% of the liquor in the system is removed. The process not only removes impurities but improves the separation of liquid and solid fatty acids. |
