abstract Preparation of nicotine-free tobacco flavoured oil, comprises: (a) emulsifying a tobacco flavouring oil containing nicotine with an aqueous acidic solution ; (b) separation of the emulsion into aqueous and oil phases ; (c) isolation of the oil phase. Also claimed are (i) preparation using carbon dioxide to extract tobacco or a primary extract in order to form the starting material for step (a) and (ii) nicotine-free tobacco flavoured oils prepared by these methods.
