abstract |
The panel has a resistive layer (3) applied to a thermal insulating base (10) via a support layer (12). The resistive layer has a controlled amount of conducting material added to its bulk e.g. graphite, carbon, carbon fibre. The protective layer is bonded by a hydraulic binder to form a moisture resistant cover which transmits infrared energy supplied from the heating layer. Contacts (4) are bonded to the resistive layer. The heating layer has a rating of 1-30 watts per square metre. The thermal insulation (1) can be provided by a foam material on a supporting base (13). The heating panels are applied to the walls and ceiling of a room. The wall heating system can be supplemented by conventional underfloor heating or storage heating. |
