titleOfInvention Precoat filter and method for cleaning it
abstract The filter (1) contained in a vessel (2) has a common shaft (3) with filter elements (4) upon it. At least on their upper sides, there is a porous, fluid-permeable percolation underlayer (7) for filter aid. A finely-porous filter underlay is provided, substituting the first deposition of conventional filter aid. Also claimed is use of the horizontal filter for filtering beverages and other fluids using only one type or fraction of filter aid, especially kieselguhr. Also claimed is a method of cleaning a percolation filter with fine porous deposition underlayer, which replaces the usual filter aid, as described. The filter, freed from filter aid, is cleaned in a sequence of several stages with solutions, at least one of which is an enzyme-containing solution.
