abstract |
Degradation of iodo-aromatic compounds (I) in aqueous media comprises the electrochemical cleavage of iodine, specifically by cathodic cleavage of iodine at -1.5 to -1.9 V. Also claimed are: (i) a devices used for the method, consisting of an electrolysis cell having a voltage source; and (ii) an electrolysis cells used for the method, having anode and cathode regions with flow inlets and outlets, which are used in combination with a reference electrode. |
