titleOfInvention Thermal radiation shield and its use in a superconducting antenna
abstract The material is based on electrically insulating polyester film (2) with a mosaic of conductive elementary hexagonal coatings (4) of Al or Au vapour-deposited or sputtered on to one side to a uniform thickness of about 10 nm. The hexagons have edges (a) about 50 mu m long and are separated by gaps (b) of about 10 mu m. The thickness of the metal corresponds to the skin depth at maximum radiance in the infrared region. The material is applicable between the wall of a Dewar flask and a high-Tc superconducting magnetic resonance antenna.
