abstract Prodn. of magnetic recording medium comprises: (a) grinding the surfaces of a carrier by grinding in a ductile modulus using a grinding disk, by adjusting the grinding depth to 0.05-20 mu m, so that a surface-processed carrier with grinding braces in the arc pattern; and (b) producing layers forming a recording medium, with a lower layer, a magnetic layer, and a protective layer on the carrier or on a polished carrier obtd. by final polishing the carrier. The magnetic recording medium produced is also claimed.
