titleOfInvention System for the differentiation of fluorescent groups of molecules by time-resolved fluorescence measurement
abstract A system and process are disclosed for distinguishing at least two types of molecule groups having a different degree of fluorescence and bound to an analyte molecule by time resolved fluorescence measurement. A light source (5) irradiates a first sample volume with light suitable for exciting the fluorescence of the at least two types of molecule groups. A detector (2) detects the fluorescent radiation emitted by a second sample volume which at least partially overlaps the first sample volume. A control unit is designed to activate the light source for a time interval T1 and to activate the detector for a time interval T3 after a time interval T2 has elapsed. The irradiation and detection of emitted fluorescent radiation are carried out at least 1000 times per millisecond. The detector signals recorded by a recording unit during the time intervals T3 are evaluated by an evaluation unit. The molecule groups contained in the overlapping sample volume are determined from the variation in time of the signals during the time interval T3.
