titleOfInvention Process for the removal of hydrogen cyanide from synthesis gases
abstract Process for removing hydrogen cyanide from synthesis gases produced from the reaction of coal or hydrocarbons with water vapour (and eventually oxygen) comprises physically scrubbing the gases to dissolve the hydrogen cyanide in the scrubbing agent, to which is added chemicals that convert the hydrogen cyanide to a rhodanide, and removing the rhodanide from the scrubbing agent. The novelty is that the rhodanide is fed to the synthesis gas production plant and gasified together with the coal or hydrocarbons.
