abstract |
Polymerisable dental material (DM) contains the following components: (A) at least one polymerisable monomer; and (B) an impact strength-modifying agent comprising (B1) a polysiloxane graft copolymer with an elastomeric polysiloxane core and non-elastomeric polymer shell and/or (B2) a polysiloxane containing (meth)acrylic groups. Also claimed are: (i) moulded dental products containing at least partially cured (DM); (ii) the use of (DM) as dental materials; and (iii) the use of (B) to increase the impact strength of dental materials. Preferably (A) is triethylene glycol (di)methacrylate, 2,2-bis-4-(3-methacryloxy-2-hydroxypropoxy)-phenyl propane (bis-GMA) or an isocyanate / hydroxy group-containing (meth)acrylate (preferably methyl methacrylate) reaction product. (B1) comprises 20-70 (20-60) wt.% polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) shell. Particles with a size of 70-150 (80-120) nm are used as the core for (B1). A poly(dimethyl siloxane) oligomer or polyether-polysiloxane block copolymer with a number average molecular weight of 1000-10000 (1000-4000) is used as (B2), which contains 2-8 (meth)acrylic end and/or side chain groups.(DM) also contains a further polymer (C), preferably a methyl methacrylate polymer or an other polymer prepared from a mixture of methyl methacrylate and other (meth)acrylate compounds. (C) is preferably a pearl lustre polymer. Also present in (DM) is a filler (D) and cross-linking agent (E). (DM) contains 10-90 (25-60) wt.% (A), 0.1-30 (0.4-15) wt.% (B) and 10-80 (30-70) wt .% (C). |
