abstract | Heat recovery with simultaneous reduction of nitrogen oxide emission is effected by: (i) feeding a gaseous fuel (mixture) without flame-formation at 300-1300 deg C and in the presence of oxygen at air number ( lambda ) 1-3 over a calcium aluminate catalyst for a dwell time of 0.1-10 seconds, the catalyst also being at 300-1300 deg C and serving to oxidise the fuel; and (ii) removing the heat generated in the exothermic reaction along with the off-gas and delivering it (optionally via a heat exchanger) to a distribution medium. |
