abstract |
The invention concerns amorphous granular alkali silicates with bulk densities of at least 700 g/l and which have a high absorptive capacity, i.e. remain sufficiently free-flowing after impregnation with washing- or cleaning-agent constituents which are liquids of free-flowing solids at the processing temperature. Such silicates may be produced by a method which is based on spray drying and includes compression of the spray-dried beads. The spray-dried beads are ground and at the same time or subsequently granulated with the addition of a liquid granulation aid to give bulk densities of 700 to over 1000 g/l. Granulates of this kind are particularly suitable for use in high-density washing or cleaning agents with a high surfactant content and a bulk density over 700 g/l since they prevent, or at least significantly decrease, gel formation when the agent dissolves in water. |
