abstract The control system monitors at least two parameters which affect the restraint systems and applies the restraints via variable control elements. The control program is selected from a table of available programs to match the application of the restraints to the conditions. The control system applies to airbags, safety belt tensioners etc. The control characteristics are grouped to define the zones of control. The parameters monitored include ; weight of occupants, height of occupants, space occupied by occupants, temperature, seat setting, vehicle speed, collision sensor output etc.
