Use of amphiphilic, alkylated polyethyleneimines as stabilizers for aqueous alkyldiketene dispersions |
abstract |
Stabilisers for aqueous alkyl diketene dispersions comprise amphiphilic alkylated polyethylene imines prepared by partial alkylation of polyethylene imines using alkyl halides containing at least 5C atoms. Also claimed are aqueous alkyl diketene dispersions containing these stabilisers, used as internal sizing agents for paper pulp. Preferably the polyethylene imines have a weight average molecular weight of 500-50000 (700-30000). The alkyl halides contain 5-30C atoms and are preferably 1-22C alkyl bromides. The degree of alkylation is 1-35 (3-33)%. |
