Tracer cpds. useful in the pharmacological and chemical testing of cardenolides and cardenolide glycosides are prepd by replacing the H-atoms on C21 and C22 of the unsaturated lactone ring by means of O-deuterated or O-tritiated hydroxyl cpds. (pref. deuterated or tritiated water or lower alcohols) under the catalytic influence of bases (pref. tert aliphatic amines) in a solvent (pref. pyridine on DMF) which is as proton-free as possible. |
