abstract | Adhesives or coatings for glass plates (esp. for electronic units) with outstanding strong adhesion, cross-linking at room temp., in presence of O2, not requiring solvent to give a mixture of low viscosity, forming glass-clear, impact-tough coatings, by making a mixture of liquid diorganopolysiloxanes and a monocyclic organopolysiloxane (not a polycyclic organopolysiloxane used at present) of formula: (OSiR2) x OSi(OR')aR2 y z (R is opt. substd. monovalent hydrocarbyl, R' is R or an acyl residue, a is 1 or 2.x is 0 or an integer 1-4, y is an integer 1-5 and z is an integer 1-3, with x plus y being at least 3) together with a catalyst, such as phosphorus nitrile chloride (0.003-0.5) and allowing it to cure on the article at room temp. after brushing it on. Film cannot be removed without its destruction. Glass plates joined by the adhesive cannot be separated without breaking the glass. |
