abstract The process for encapsulating objects esp. to form insulating coatings, as with electrical cables and plugs, uses a rapid setting multicomponent plastic (5). A mixing head is used to cast or spray the plastic around the component. Pref. the multicomponent plastic (5) is a sprayed elastomer based on polyurea. The mixing device pref. has spray nozzles (10) distributed equally about the circumference of the object to be coated, which is rotated about its longest axis during spraying. The object pref. has length, being e.g. a cable bundle. Several nozzles (10) are pref. set back, arranged to spray radially towards and around it. The bundle is pref. advanced along its axis, through the spray.
