abstract The device has an infrared spotlight (1) and a video camera. The spotlight and the video camera are integrated into a single module. The heat loss from the spotlight (1) is used to heat the video camera and the front pane (5). The spotlight may be switched on when the external temperature falls below a predetermined level, and may also have a dimmer switch. The spotlight (1) may be tilted relative to the axis of the video camera, in the vertical direction, to allow an optimal illumination of the camera image by the spotlight. A filter, which is only transparent to infrared light, may be provided in front of the camera lens. The video camera, the spotlight and the current supply may be integrated in a common housing. The infrared filter may be integrated in the front cover of the housing.
