A lithium battery composed of a plurality of lithium-containing layered electrochemical cells disposed in a battery case, wherein the layered electrochemical cells comprise a continuous, flexible, folded, mobile lithium ion-containing polymer electrolyte, first and second pole electrodes, and first and second pole electrode current collectors, characterized in that the layered electrochemical cells are constructed of laminates, consisting of: i) a first, electrically conductive, continuous, flexible, folded electrode carrier laminate having first and second surfaces, a plurality of discrete first pole electrode plates, each first pole electrode plate having opposite major sides, a plate length and a first plate width, one of the major sides of each said first pole electrode plate is conductively connected to said first surface of said first electrode carrier laminate at predetermined pitch intervals, ii) a continuous, flexible, folded, mobile lithium ion-containing polymer electrolyte laminate having first and second surfaces, a laminate width, and a laminate edge pair, the polymer electrolyte laminate being conductive to lithium ions and non-conductive to electric current, iii) a second, electric current conducting, continuous, flexible, folded ... |
