titleOfInvention | Process for the preparation of reactive azo dyes |
abstract | Prepn. of reactive amino-azo 1-naphthol sulphonic cid cpds. (I) of formula (A; X = a fibre-reactive heterocyclic gp.) comprises (a) hydrolysing maleamido-azo dyes (II) of formula (A:X = -CO-CH=CH-COOH); and (b) reacting with a reactive component X-Hal, without isolating the intermediate; m = 0 or 1; A = the radical of a diazo component; Hal = halogen, esp. Cl or F. (I) are useful for dyeing and printing natural or synthetic substrates contg. OH or amide gps., e.g. silk, leather, wool, synthetic polyamide fibres and esp. cellulosic fibres, e.g. linen, staple rayon, regenerated cellulose and partic. cotton. The process eliminates isolation of the intermediate amine after removing the protective acyl gp., which used to ensure selective coupling. |
