(Meth)acryloxy gp.-contg. organosilicon (MASi) cpds. with units of formula AaRbSiXcO(4-(a+b-c))/2 (I), in which R = opt. halogenated 1-18 C hydrocarbyl; X = Cl or -OR1; R1 = 1-8 C alkyl, opt. with in-chain ether O; a = 0 or 1; b, c = 0, 1, 2 or 3; a + b + c = not more than 4; A = a gp. of formula (II), in which z = 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5; R2 = linear or branched 1-8 C alkylene, opt. contg. ether, amino, sulphide, ester, amide, urea or urethane gps.; R3 = H or Me; Y = X, CN, N(R4)2, SR4, OCOR4, COOR4, NR4-COR4, CON(R4)2 or NO2; R4 = as for R; with the proviso that each mol. of the cpd. contains at least one gp. A. Also claimed is (i) a process for the prodn. of MASi cpds. by reacting corresp. phenolic cpds. (1) (with B = -R2-Ar, in which Ar = a benzene ring substd. with z OH gps. and 5-z Y gps.) with (meth)acryloyl chloride (2) in presence of base (3) or with (meth)acrylic acid in presence of acid catalysts (4); (ii) compsns. which are crosslinked by irradiation with light, contg.
