abstract | Prepn. of cyclopentyl bromide by a continuous process comprises reacting cyclopentene with hydrogen bromide in the presence of a heterogeneous catalyst. Pref. process is effected at a temp. of -20 to +300[deg]C and a pressure of 0.01-30 bar (claimed) most pref. 10-110[deg]C and 0.8-1.5 bar (disclosed) in the presence of a metal cpd. catalyst on a support, most pref. a salt of copper, iron, cobalt, nickel, chromium, bismuth, zinc, cadmium, vanadium, tungsten, mercury, antimony, aluminium and/or molybdenum on active charcoal, silica gel, silicon dioxide, silicic acid, aluminium oxide, rare earth metal oxide or phosphate, zeolite, aluminosilicate, solid heteropolyacids or ceramics with a mol. ratio of cyclopentene:hydrogen bromide of 1:0.05-5. The prod. is pref. sepd. by continuous distn. with recycling. |
