3-Tetrahydrophthalimidocinnamyl alcohol derivs. of formula (I) and their salts are new. R1 = halo, NO2, CN or CF3; R2 = H or halo; R3 = H, CN, halo or alkyl; R4 = H, halo, alkyl, haloalkyl or alkoxy; R5, R6 = H, 1-6C alkyl, haloalkyl or phenyl; R7 = H, alkyl, 3-6C alkenyl, 3-6C alkynyl, COR, alkylsulphonyl, alkylaminosulphonyl or dialkylaminosulphonyl; R = alkyl, haloalkyl, 3-8C cycloalkyl, 2-6C alkenyl, 2-6C alkynyl, alkoxy, haloalkoxy, 3-8C cycloalkoxy, alkylthio, haloalkylthio, 3-8C cycloalkylthio, alkylamino, haloalkylamino, 3-8C cycloalkylamino, alkylcarbonyloxy alkylcarbonyl, alkylcarbonylthioalkyl, alkoxycarbonylalkyl, alkylthiocarbonylalkyl, phenyl, phenylamino, phenoxy; phenylthio or a 3-8 membered opt. unsatd. or heteroaromatic ring contg. 1-3 heteroatoms selected from 2 oxygen, 2 sulphur, 2 nitrogen and 1 N-methyl; phenyl gps. are opt. substd. by 1-3 of CN, NO2 halo, alkyl, haloalkyl, alkoxy and alkoxycarbonyl.
