abstract | Agent for permanent waving of hair comprises N-(2-mercaptopropionyl)-glycine (I), or a salt of this, as a keratin-reducing agent. Pref., the amt. of (I) in the ready-to-use agent is 3-25 wt.%. The pH of the agent is 6-9. The agent may also comprise other keratin-reducing agents, such as thiolactic acid, thioglycolic acid, 3-mercaptopropionic acid, cysteine, cysteamine or derivs. of these. The agent is typically allowed to work for 5-30 mins. and is used in amts. of 60-120 g. Oxidative post-treatment is carried out using hydrogen peroxide, urea peroxide, sodium perborate, potassium bromate or sodium bromate. |
