titleOfInvention | Blowing agents and their use in processes for the production of single or multi-component polyurethane foams |
abstract | A foaming agent (blowing agent) compsn. (I) for the prodn. of foamed plastics and for the prodn. of 1- or 2-component polyurethane (PU) foam from pressure containers contains 0.5-50 wt.% liq. CO2 (A). Also claimed is (i) a process for the prodn. of foamed plastics with the aid of (I); (ii) a process for the prodn. of PU foam (see above) from a pressurised container contg. an isocyanate prepolymer, opt. other conventional components and blowing agent (I), by releasing the pressure in the container through a suitable valve; (iii) a process for the prodn. of blowing agent (I) by mixing CO2 liquefied under pressure with another liq. component or component liquefied under pressure, pref. a blowing agent or fire retardant; (iv) a compsn. for the prodn. of 1- or 2-component PU foam, contg. a prepolymer and compsn. (I); (v) a system for the prodn. of such PU foam, consisting of a pressure container with a valve, contg. an isocyanate prepolymer and compsn. (I). Pref. (I) contains 5-50 (pref. 10-50,esp. pref. 10-20) wt.% liq. CO2 (A). A suitable compsn. (I) for the prodn. of foamed plastics contains 10-20 pts. wt. (A) and 30-90 pts. wt. liq. or pressure-liquefied physical blowing agent(s) (B), i.e. 1-5C alcohols, 2-12C aliphatic hydrocarbons, 3-12C cyclic hydrocarbons, 1-5C halogenated hydrocarbons or 2-6C halogenated ethers. Compsns. of this type contain (a) 20-30 pts. wt. (A) and 50-60 pts. wt. butane and/or propane/butane mixt. and/or 5-15 pts. wt. acetone, or (b) 20-40 pts. wt. (A) and 10-50 pts. wt. 1,1-dichloro-1-fluoroethane, pentafluoroethane or 1,1-difluoroethane, or (c) 20-40 pts. wt. (A) and 10-50 pts. wt. difluoromethoxy- 2,2,2-trifluoroethane. A suitable compsn. for PU foam from pressure cans contains 10-50 pts. wt. (A) and 30-90 pts. wt. (B), i.e. 2-4C ethers, 3-5C ketones, or other types as listed above, or 10-50 pts. wt. (A) and 10-100 pts. wt. trialkyl phosphate(s) or phosphonate(s), e.g. triethyl phosphate. |
