abstract | Organosilicon compounds of formula (I), (in which n = 6, 30 and preferably 10), are prepared by reaction of (II) with (III), in the presence of H2PtCl6 as catalyst to give (IV) which is hydrolysed by H2O to (V), the latter being hydrolysed with KoH and acidified with HCl to give (I): The products are applied, in an organic solvent (preferred are, benzene, toluene) in the presence of a binding agent (preferred are tetraisopropyl titanate, titanium acetylacetonate, triethanolaminetitanate) to paper or textiles, then heat-hardened, giving water repellent coatings. |
