abstract | The catalyst system comprises (i) an alkylalkoxy-Al-chloride AIR(OR')Cl (where R is 1-8C alkyl and OR' is 1-10C alkoxy; (ii) a Ti(IV)-cpd. Ti(OR")nCl4-n (where OR" is 1-10C alkoxy and n is an integer 0 to 4); (ii) a solid Ti-Cpd. with not less than 0.2 1-10C alkoxy resisues per Ti-atom, e.g. the reaction product of di-alkyl-Al-chloride with monoalkoxy-TiCl3. The comonomer (if used) is an alpha-olefine. The wt. ratio (i):(ii) is 1:20 to 50:1; (i):(iii) is 1:5 to 100:1. Use of the catalyst system as claimed avoids formation of a thin layer of polymer on the inner surfaces of the polymerisation reactor and on the stirrer blades. |
