abstract |
Liquid hydrocarbon fuel with a flask point of at least 90 deg.F for use in gas turbine aircraft contains a polymer with a mol.wt. of more than 106 (viscosity average), or an intrinsic viscosity of more than 2.5 dls/g, in such a concentration that molecular overlapping occurs in the polymer molecules in the fuel.- The increase in viscosity of the liquid hydrocarbon fuel reduces the spattering tendency of the fuel when subjected to sudden shocks, in particular reducing the formation of mixts. Thus, the fuel has an increased safety factor |
